This screen is essential because it determines how a product will be created :

    • According to the type of product chosen, certain configuration screens may or may not appear.
    • For each catalog that has assigned products, you can define categories and prices.
    • You can define stocks for each warehouse (for products managed in stock).
    • Tax categories will determine the tax calculation.

How to ? Choose a product type :
You can create 3 product types with Magelia WebStore :
    - Standard Product : A standard product has only one SKU and may have attributes.
    - Product Variant : A product proposed in several versions (ex: a fragrance offered in different capacities).
    - Bundle : A bundle is a group of products that must be sold together as a package. Bundles comprise of a definitive price that is independent from the individual prices of the products that make up the bundle. Note: the stock of a bundle is defined in terms of the bundle as a whole and not in terms of each individual product in the bundle.

    • The tabs and fields that are available to be displayed depend on the chosen product type :
      • Choosing a “variant” product type will display the “Variants” tab in the menu on the left, but the SKU field will not be displayed.
      • Choosing a “bundle” product type will display the “Composition” tab in the menu on the left.

    • DO Deselect the “Active” box when you are preparing your product to be certain that the product will not be displayed online. Once you have finished preparing a product, select“Is Active” and save.
    • DO Fill-in the SKU field that corresponds to the unique identifier of your product.

How to ? Assign a product to a catalog :
A catalog corresponds to a group of products that are sold on an e-commerce website. In order to be sold online, products must be assigned to at least one catalog.
To assign your product to a catalog, select the catalog in which you would like to assign a product, and click on the arrow to move it into the “Assigned catalog” section.

    • A product can be assigned to several catalogs. A product that is in several catalogs can have a different price in each catalog.
    • If you choose to assign products to several catalogs, fill-in the Category, Prices, Upselling, and Cross-selling tabs for each catalog.

How to ? Assign a product to a tax category :
A tax category corresponds to a product category in which the same tax calculation rules apply. For example, for products in Europe, a tax category would allow you to define products that fall under the TVA standard tax or the TVA reduced tax, etc.
To add a tax category, select the one you would like to assign to a product and click on the arrow to move it to the “Assigned Tax Categories” section.

    • A product can be assigned to several tax categories in order to be sold in different regions where different tax calculations apply (in Europe by applying the TVA tax, in the U.S. by applying the sales tax, etc.).

How to ? Assign a product to a warehouse :
Warehouses designate where stock for merchandise can be found. In WebStore, warehouses can also be an actual store. Therefore, a chain of stores can define each store as a warehouse and indicate the available stock in each store. Each warehouse is assigned to a tax zone.
To add a warehouse, select the one in which you would like to assign a product and click on the arrow to move it to the “Assigned Warehouses” section.

    • A product can be assigned to several warehouses and stock can be defined in terms of the warehouse.
    • Product measurements (size, weight, etc.) are expressed using the same unit of measurement for all sites belonging to the seller. Unit of measurement settings (size in cm or in ft, for example) can be found under “Administration>Sellers>Edit Seller>Seller Settings”.
